History and Motivation:

I grew up staying active with a mix of sports and outdoor adventures. Basketball, baseball, snowboarding/skiing, paddle boarding on Elk Lake and the Deschutes River, and mountain biking—especially around Phil's Trailhead and the Bend area—were my main passions. After dealing with injuries and a reduction in and lack of activity, I decided to give strength training a shot. I dove deep into the science of exercise, biomechanics, and proper programming and soon noticed the benefits of getting stronger and sticking to a workout program. In Bend, so many people love hiking the Deschutes River Trail, crushing trails at Smith Rock or Three Sisters, mountain biking Phil's Trail system, paddle boarding the Deschutes River, cross country skiing near Mt. Bachelor, or hitting the slopes—yet nagging pain, injuries, aging, or life stress can make it hard to keep going. I’ve found a lot of joy in helping people make small (and significant) life changes to implement a high quality strength and conditioning program in order to improve their lives both physically and mentally. A smart, sustainable strength and conditioning program is key to staying capable and enjoying the Central Oregon lifestyle we all love, whether you're recovering from injury or building resilience to prevent one.

Philosophy:

Starting or restarting fitness can feel overwhelming—especially if you're returning from an injury, new to strength training, or just lacking confidence in the gym. I've faced those same roadblocks myself multiple times. Whether your goals include weight management, better sport performance (like mountain biking or skiing at Mt. Bachelor), injury prevention/recovery, or simply moving with more ease on hikes around the Three Sisters or Crux events, personal training provides the structure, accountability, and tools to get you there.

The fitness industry is overflowing with hype: quick fixes, "life hacks," fear-based marketing, and endless promises that rarely deliver long-term results. Too much noise from social media and ads leaves the average person confused and forgotten, often discouraged by the lack of follow-through in the “quick fix” “quick results” dominated fitness ad space. What sets me apart as a personal trainer in Bend, Oregon is my focus on sustainability, the importance of consistency, my attention to detail, and adaptability approach to suit your life and needs. My straightforward, honest communication lead us to have a clear expectation of what you can expect not only from me, but from a realistic and effective strength training program. No shortcuts or inflated claims here—the science behind effective strength training is straightforward when applied properly.

With my own history of nagging injuries, serious setbacks, gym intimidation, and body image struggles, I understand what you're going through. My promise as your coach is simple: I'll never BS you, I'll share what I know (and admit what I don't), and I'll use my experience to help you move better, feel stronger, and thrive in Bend's amazing outdoor world—whether that's powering up Phil's Trail on your bike, paddling the Deschutes River, skiing near Mt. Bachelor, or just feeling confident and pain-free in daily life. Let's build the strength to keep you active in Central Oregon for years to come.
